DRUG CATEGORY:Antihistamine/ H1-receptor Antagonist
MECHANISM OF ACTION:ALERGO competes with histamine for binding at H1-receptor sites on the effector cell surface, resulting in suppression of histaminic edema, flare, pruritus and other allergic conditions.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:ALERGO can be taken without regard to food consumption. ALERGO can be taken with or without water. Adults and Children 6 Years and Older:ALERGO 5mg or 10mg/day.Children 2 to 5 Years: 2.5 mg (½ teaspoon) to 5 mg (1 teaspoon) per day Children 6 months to <2 years: 2.5 mg (½ teaspoon) once daily. The dose in children 12 to 23 months of age can be increased to a maximum dose of 5 mg per day, given as ½ teaspoon (2.5 mg) every 12 hours.
