ONLEZOLE (Fluconazole) 50mg CapsulesDRUG CATEGORY: Antifungal
MECHANISM OF ACTION: Fluconazole is a highly selective inhibitor of fungal cytochrome P450 dependent enzyme lanosterol 14-α-demethylase. This enzyme functions to convert lanosterol to ergosterol. The subsequent loss of normal sterols correlates with the accumulation of 14-α-methyl sterols in fungi and may be responsible for the fungistatic activity of fluconazole. INDICATIONS: Candidiasis , Tinea corporis, tinea cruris or tinea pedis, Onychomycosis, Cryptococcal meningitis , Coccidioidomycosis, Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis, Prophylaxis of candidiasis in immunocompromised people. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:For Vaginal candidiasis and Candidal balanitis 150mg as a single oral dose. For Tinea pedis, corporis, cruris and candida infections, the recommended dosage is 150mg once weekly. Duration of Treatment: 2 to 4 weeks but tinea pedis may require treatment upto 6 weeks. For Tinea Versicolor; 300mg once weekly for 2 weeks, For tinea unguium, the recommended dosage is 150mg once weekly. Treatment of fingernail and toenail normally requires, 3 to 6 months and 6 to 12 months respectively. PRESENTATION: Onlezole 50mg Caps. is present in Alu-Alu Blister pack of 1×7’s Caps.
