TRININ (Sertraline as HCl) 100mg Tablets

DRUG CATEGORY: Anti-Depressant (SSRI’s)

MECHANISM OF ACTION: Inhibit the neuronal reuptake of serotonin. It has only very weak effects on norepinephrine and dopamine neuronal reuptake.

INDICATIONS:

Children and Adolescents: Paediatric patients (6-17 years of age) with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Adults: Depression, anxiety, mania. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia. post-traumatic stress disorder social phobia (social anxiety disorder). premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Children and adolescents (6 up to 18 years):

Use in Children – Paediatric OCD patients (aged 13 to 17) should commence at 50 mg/day. Therapy for paediatric OCD patients (aged 6 to 12) should commence at 25 mg/day, increasing to 50 mg/day after one week. Adults (18 years and older): Depression and OCD – Sertraline treatment should be administered at a dose of 50 mg/day. Panic Disorder, PTSD and Social Phobia – initiated at 25 mg/day. After one week, the dose should be increased to 50 mg once daily. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder initiated with a dose of 50-150 mg/day.
